Writing software for Canadian schools
Writing support for every student.
Litly brings student drafting, assignment-specific guidance, teacher feedback and assessment into one workspace. Support adapts to each student’s writing level while the work remains their own.
Draft and revise
A browser-based writing workspace with dictation, automatic saving and version history.
Writing coach
Assignment-specific guidance adjusted to each student's writing level.
Feedback and assessment
Inline comments, suggested revisions, rubrics and assessment in the same workspace.
Class workflow
Assignment scheduling, progress, submissions, revisions and grade release by class.
What a student sees
The assignment, rubric, draft and writing coach share one workspace. Guidance responds to the student’s draft without producing the submission.
Teacher comments and suggested revisions appear in the margin beside the passage they refer to. Teacher-selected supports can include word banks and sentence frames tailored to the assignment.
Why teachers use it
One class, many writing levels, one assignment.
Each student’s writing level carries across assignments, allowing one task to provide different levels of support.
Differentiated support
The writing coach uses the student's writing level for wording and sentence structure while keeping ideas aligned with the enrolled grade.
Guidance without ghostwriting
Guidance focuses on the draft and the student’s decisions. Teachers can review conversations and set the support level per student, including off.
Teacher-controlled scaffolding
Teachers can create and edit word banks and sentence frames for each assignment.
Controlled grade release
Completed grades remain hidden until the teacher releases them.

What a teacher sees
Class progress, student drafts, inline comments, rubrics and assessment are available in one place.
The home page identifies submissions to mark, grades awaiting release and student questions awaiting a response.
One workflow
From assignment planning to records management.
Plan the assignment
Start from a template or write the brief, attach reference material, tag Ontario curriculum expectations and define the rubric.
Set student support
Set writing levels, AI support and language supports for the class or individual students.
Publish and monitor
Publish immediately or schedule a release. Track who has started, submitted or received work back.
Review and respond
Comment inline, suggest revisions, answer questions and return submissions for another draft.
Assess and release
Assess against the rubric, save the grade and release it when ready.
Manage records
Export student records, review access history and apply the board’s retention schedule.
For boards
Governance built into the product.
Access, retention, safeguarding and data handling are documented on the trust pages.
Access log
Every read or change to a child’s record is recorded with the account that made it, and the board can export the log.
Records management
Boards set retention periods, export student records, schedule deletion and receive a certificate after destruction.
Safeguarding
Student writing receives a separate safety assessment. Concerns are sent to class teachers and follow the board’s escalation settings.
Guardian sharing
Student work is sent only to guardians with a verified address and recorded consent.
Data residency
Stored data is encrypted and held in Canada. AI processing may occur in Canada or the United States; the AI service does not retain prompts or responses. Review data residency details.
